About
Rytis Valūnas graduated from the Law Faculty of Mykolas Romeris University in 2007 and obtained Bachelor's degree of Law. In 2009 he finished his International Law jodint-program in Mykolas Romeris University and Ghent University (Belgiuk) and obtained Master‘s degree of Law. Rytis Valūnas was an exchange program student at Lunds University (Sweden) in 2006.
Since his first days of studies Rytis Valūnas is highly involved in NGO activities. Rytis Valūnas has served as a chairman of Students Scientific Society of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU SMD) Scientific Section of Legal Philosphy. In 2005-2007 Rytis Valūnas held the Presidency of Students Scientific Society. Rytis Valūnas was also a member of ILSA Lithuania (International Law Students Association). He is currently a member of American Society of International Law (ASIL) and International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) Section of Lithuania.
Rytis Valūnas together with Mykolas Romeris University team won International Law Moot Court Competition Regional Baltic Cup tournament and received an award of the best orator (Vilnius, Lithuania, 2008). He has also represented the Republic of Lithuania and Mykolas Romeris University at Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (Washington, D.C., 2007, 2008), Jean Pictet international humanitarian law competition (Schwarzenburg - Bern, Switzerland, 2008), World Trade Organization (WTO) Moot Court Competition (Frankfurt-Oder, Germany, 2009). Rytis Valūnas was a judging arbiter in CUFTA - (Customs Unions or Free Trade Areas) Moot Dispute Settlement Competition, (Minas Gerais, Brazil, 2008).
Rytis Valūnas is also a holder of professor Mykolas Romeris Scholarship (2007) and an author of publications on legal philosophy, European Union and international law issues.
In 2007 he received the acknowledgement of Prime Minister of the Republic of Lithuania for significant contribution in studies and fields of legal profession, victories in national and international competitions.
Since February 2008 Rytis Valūnas is an assistant of attorney at law Jurgita Judickienė.
